Centennial Faith is my 28th original jade artwork, completed in 2021 as a sincere creation dedicated to expressing patriotism and national sentiment.
From design to finishing, I focused on conveying love for the country and respect for history rather than decorative skills. I hope to use traditional jade carving as a quiet, gentle way to record the great changes of the nation over a century.
I chose precious Xiuyan Flower Jade for this piece because its natural warm yellow and red textures perfectly match the solemn and peaceful spirit of the theme. Following the natural lines of the stone, I carved the artistic number “100”, two peaceful doves, the map of China, and the winding Great Wall among mountains.
The doves inside the number 100 represent our enduring love for peace. The Great Wall and national territory show the long history, beautiful mountains, and peaceful development of China. Every cut carries respect for the past and best wishes for the nation’s prosperity.
To me, jade carving is not only a craft but also a carrier of culture and emotion. This work uses jade as a medium to show faith, perseverance, and hope developed over a hundred years.
This piece was honored to receive the Silver Award in Jade Carving at the First “Huaxi Cup” Cultural Tourism Commodity Creative Design Competition. This recognition encourages me to continue creating works that carry cultural value and positive meaning.
I hope this artwork can convey the beauty of traditional Chinese jade culture, deep love for the country, and sincere wishes for peace and development. It is more than a carving—it is a quiet expression of faith, memory, and cultural spirit.
